Nov. 21, 2020 NIFE VIRTUAL Meeting:

ZOOM MEETING LINK >>> (To Be Posted the day before meeting)

Join us on Saturday, November 21, 2020 starting at 9:00am (CST) for our November Zoom online NIFE Club Meeting. We are scheduling this event to last one hour which will allow time for our guest speaker to take questions from the audience. We will share a link to this online meeting via an E-blast sent out a few days prior to 11-21-20. At this meeting we will have the opportunity to get to know NIFE club member Mike Schmidt from Illinois and his customized '87 Fiero GT.

For Mike, the Fiero was a good memory from his high school years back in the 1980's. Mike was looking for a GT with a 5-speed manual in white. Mike knew from the get-go that he was going to modify the heck out of it, the way he envisioned the car should be. Mike has built a sound system along with modifications to the outside which include IMSA rear quarter panels and also a chin spoiler. He found out that looking for custom Fiero parts was like a scavenger hunt. Mike never could find a decent rocker panel set, so he made his own using side flares meant for the Subaru WRX. As they say on TV, "but wait, there's more!" A lot more. Please join us to learn much more about all of the customizing Mike has already completed on his Fiero and what he is planning for the future! We hope you can join us.

July 4, 2020 July 4th Cruise: - St. Charles to Oregon, IL

With Independence Day celebrations cancelled across the area for 2020 due to the pandemic, NIFE invites you to join us for a social distancing cruise to give your Fiero some much needed exercise! Join us on Saturday, July 4, 2020 as we head West along North Avenue (Route 64) for a "parade" style celebration cruise in our Fieros. Our trip will begin at the host hotel we use for Fierorama, the Quality Inn in St. Charles, IL located at 1600 E. Main Street (Route 64/North Avenue). Please begin meeting at 8:30am for a 9:00am departure and be sure to bring your two-way radios so we can communicate with one another to socialize during our "parade". As we will be celebrating Independence Day the best we can, feel free to decorate your Fiero patriotically for the spirit of the day!
As we head West along North Avenue (Route 64) we will pass through downtown St. Charles, IL. Let's put ourselves in "parade" mode and celebrate America's Independence Day by honking our horns and waving to bystanders along the way. As we continue West and pass through Wasco, IL, we will approach our second event meeting point located at Route 47 and Route 64 at the Shell gas station in the Northeast corner of this intersection. Here we will drive by and pick up additional "parade" participants.
We will then continue Westward through Sycamore, IL and into Oregon, IL. In Oregon, we will loop around the town square and then head back East on Route 64 back to St. Charles, IL which will conclude the event. As we are returning, feel free to exit off of Route 64 where ever it is most convenient for you to head back home.
The "parade route" is about 55 miles long each way so the entire trip should take about two hours. For everyone's safety, face coverings and social distancing rules issued by the CDC in effect at event time will need to be followed. It has been a long time since we had the opportunity to drive our Fieros together as a club so we hope you can join us for this special event!

June 6, 2020 NIFE VIRTUAL ONLINE "ZOOM" Meeting - 9:00 AM (US/Canada CST)

An invitation will be sent through e-mail to Members

Towards the end of our April NIFE board meeting, after feeling let down about so many of our club events being cancelled and postponed due to COVID-19, our Technical Director, Bill Klicker, offered up a suggestion for having an online club meeting. We all agreed it was something we should consider and decided to investigate this further.

At our May board meeting, we further hashed out this idea. Several board members offered up ideas for the meeting's subject matter. We decided to go far-fetched and offer NIFE club members an opportunity to meet other NIFE club members who are not in Illinois, not in the Midwest, and not even in the United States; we are going international! Yes, NIFE has club members in 49 states, but we also have members in Canada, Germany, Australia and Puerto Rico!

During this online club meeting you will have an opportunity to meet fellow NIFE club members from around the globe! Scheduled participants include: James Horley from Melborne, Australia; Bernard Kahl & Oliver Scholz from Weyarn, Germany; Adam Powell from Scarborough Toronto Ontario, Canada and Jose Colon Ramos from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.

We hope you can join us on Saturday, June 6, 2020 starting at 9:00am (CST) for this unique opportunity to unite with Fiero owners and NIFE club members from around the world. We are scheduling this event to last one hour which will allow time for our guests to take questions from the audience. We will share a link to this online meeting along with some tips & instructions on how to connect via an E-blast a few days prior to 6-6-20. We hope you can join us!

NIFE Club Meeting:
- Wheaton, IL

On Saturday, April 25, 2020 join us at the Wheaton Library at 10:00am for a discussion on your options for upgrading the
audio system in your Fiero. This discussion will be presented by myself, our newest NIFE Activity Director, Tom Griffiths.
I am an MECP first class certified mobile installer and was Best Buy's install trainer for new stores that opened back in the
1990's. I've installed over 2,000 systems, from just a radio to complete systems with multiple components. I have also
competed in many sound system competitions. At this meeting, we will discuss old school systems that will work best in
our Fieros to full blown systems that will blow your windows out...if you want that to happen! Many components will
be available to look at, from new to old school amps, head units, signal processors, bass enhancement devices and
subwoofers. We will go over installation and installation hardware. Please bring any questions that you may have and an
open mind as we learn from each other. Also, at this meeting NIFE Member Ray Dyreson will be joining us with a
game of "Guess That Part". Ray will bring 10-15 Fiero parts that you will have the opportunity to try and identify. We will
have an award for the meeting attendee that gets the most number correct. Could you be the winner? Let's find out on April
25th! The Wheaton Library is located at 225 N. Cross Street in Wheaton, IL, just east of downtown Wheaton.

After the meeting, everyone is welcome to join us for lunch at a nearby restaurant in the downtown area.

Mar. 21, 2020 CANCELLED - NIFE Club Meeting - Alsip, IL

NIFE Club Meeting: March 21 - UPDATE/MEETING CANCELLATION
We have recently confirmed that the Eastwood Store in Alsip, IL is planning to be open for business on
Saturday, March 21, 2020. Should we hear any change to this plan, we will communicate this to you via email,
our website and Facebook.

Our club meeting scheduled for this Saturday is coinciding with Eastwood's regularly scheduled discussion topic
on their product offerings to deal with rust. As a result, the discussion is still scheduled to take place whether it is
part of an "official" NIFE event or not so please feel free to participate in the discussion. However, with our social
interaction to be limited during this time of COVID-19, we have decided to cancel this event to do our part to
prevent the further spread of this virus.

Please continue to be vigilant during these constantly changing times.  This weekend, spend some time with your
Fiero in lieu of attending our club meeting; your Fiero will appreciate it!

Jim Hallman, NIFE President

Got Rust? Join us March 21, 2020, as we visit our friends at the Eastwood company store located at 12100 South Cicero Avenue in Alsip, IL. Our club meeting will start at 10:00am. The Eastwood staff will present a seminar on solutions to address surface rust. Although our cars are constructed with plastic body panels, if you look underneath any snow belt Fiero, you are likely to find surface rust on the gas tank, floor pan, and suspension parts. Eastwood (eastwood.com) has an extensive line of paints and coatings used to treat corroded metal and help our cars last longer. At this meeting, we will find out what new products they have developed and learn how to properly use them. Eastwood is a national company that sells many tools and supplies for auto professionals and do-it-yourselfers. The Alsip store is unique in that it includes its own shop area where hands-on classes are offered and customers can try out some of the items before they purchase.

After the meeting (around noon), join us for lunch at the Portillo's Restaurant located just South of the Eastwood
store at 13130 S Cicero Ave, in Crestwood, IL.

If you are not sure who Hulki was and his importance to our Fieros, you will need to stop by for breakfast and we will fill you in.
How are your winter Fiero projects going? Who is ready for spring? We will discuss some ideas as to which parts would be most beneficial to pull from a Fiero that was recently brought to a junkyard! See how your list compares with ours. This will be a Fiero social gathering only; no agenda, no guest speakers, just a meet and greet with your fellow Fiero enthusiasts. Join us for as long as you can. What better way to start the day?
